I had a D90 and have been very happy with it, but when my friend buy my old D90 I just phurcase the new D7000. I had only taken a couple of shots but what I have seen after compare to the old D90 is the image quality is better and it seems that not only the image sensor is better but also the camera settings can be adjusted easier and more accurately. For example, the auto white balance mode is much more accuratecy and the shutter speed can be adjust up to 1/8000 with the great high ISO abilities. Auto focus is great but I D90 auto focus also great too. The controls and the feel of the camera are pretty similar with the D90 (a bit heavier) and for the menus and buttons are also similar to D90, even easier to adjust with a few nicely placed camera buttons added on. The tripod from my D90 will not properly fit with the D7000, but both cameras are very close in size. I have no doubt this camera capabilities are much more than my DSLR skill or knowledge at this time but I don’t have any problem. I’m sure anyone who upgrading from a previous Nikon camera model will absolutely love this Nikon D7000. The video that I played around with is excellent quality without noise or any hot pixels.

Well I just buy this camera and started playing with it so for now i give it 5 stars. I sold my D90 just to buy this one, I was happy with the D90 but I change to D7000 because I wanted more ISO capabilities since I often shoot in clubs and other low light situations. This camera is going to be my main camera when I shoot and video my kids at home , so I really wanted to make sure that it was better than the D90, and so far it is. I shot at 6400 ISO under low light and it looks great, the colors and the noise just stun me and that’s why I gave it a 5 stars rating, besides the other great features that you all know, ex. the 1080 AF video, weather seal magnesium body, and more. It improved a lot, I can only compare it to the D90 since I never used a D300s. I also wanted to point out the test that I did, I used a Nikon 24-70mm F2.8 lens which is a great sharp lens so that also helps. Just make sure you know what functions you need and make your decision on that.
